About Me

Artist, Craftsman, Bookbinder

Hatty Wassell is a Gloucestershire-based artist, craftsman and bookbinder. She is a traditional and digital artist currently studying Illustration at the University of Gloucestershire. A nature artist at heart, her work largely focuses on the conservation and health benefits of nature, but also occasionally on advocating for minorities and celebrating diversity.

Hatty's art journey began when she authored & illustrated a childrens' book for a sixth form project, about the effects of bullying on autistic children. Realising the potential art like this had to improve lives, she decided to pursue an illustration degree to bring her ideas to life.

Since then, her work has been featured in Issue 83 of Illustration Magazine, and she has illustrated lesson plans with Round Circle Design & advertisement assets for Jolt Studios, where she is now a member. She also worked with a team as a graphic designer to illustrate and produce a magazine & activity book with Pittville press, titled 'Everything I Make Is Mediocre,' and is currently working on a nature activity book for adults designed to decrease stress by connecting with nature.

Hatty works with a wide variety of mediums, such as digital software, lino-printing, crayons, acrylics and sewing. Her biggest inspirations are the many natural spaces of Gloucestershire, wildlife, and cute, whimsical art. She currently resides in a cosy flat with her partner.
